Christian Community Demands Justice for Dawood Raphael’s Murder

PESHAWAR: The Christian community, expressing deep dissatisfaction with the ongoing police investigation, has called upon the Peshawar High Court Chief Justice, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, and the Inspector General of Police to apprehend and prosecute the “real” perpetrators behind the brutal killing of Dawood Raphael, who was murdered under mysterious circumstances on August 10.

At a press conference held at the Peshawar Press Club on Thursday, followed by a protest demonstration, community leaders, including Dawood’s uncle and SHPD Peshawar nursing superintendent Shamon Farhan Bhatti, Pastor Yusuf TM Azam, Bishop Chaplain, Pastor Aamir William, Pastor George Ghulam, and others, strongly condemned the murder.

Dawood Raphael, a well-educated Christian youth, was the sole breadwinner for his widowed mother and sisters. Despite his achievements, having received over 50 awards and certificates in education and sports, his murderers remain at large, the leaders lamented.

The family and community leaders voiced their dissatisfaction with the police investigation, alleging that the real perpetrators had not yet been arrested. Dawood’s visibly distressed sisters appealed to the media, questioning why their brother was killed and why the culprits remained unpunished. Fazal Mola of the Pakistan Nursing Council also condemned the murder, stressing the need for accountability and asserting that no one has the right to take another person’s life. He urged the police to conduct a thorough and prompt investigation.

Following the press conference, members of the Christian community staged a protest, holding banners and placards demanding justice for Dawood and the identification and punishment of those responsible for his murder.
