Imran Khan writes to CJP, Calls for investigation into threats to his life

Lahore: The former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has written a letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial, calling for an investigation into the “continuing threats” to his life and the “assault” on his residence in Lahore’s Zaman Park.

Imran Khan stated in the letter that he had been requesting video link facilities from the courts for multiple court appearances because his “life is at risk,” and he had not been given any security.

He went on to say that he had put his life in danger every time he had to appear in court, with one assassination plot already attempted against him in Wazirabad.

The former prime minister claims that the events of Saturday, when his house was raided by the Punjab Police while he was at the Islamabad Judicial Complex for his court hearing in the Toshakhana case, were proof of an assassination plot.

He alleged that the police and Rangers used tear gas and baton charges against ordinary unarmed citizens and PTI leadership accompanying him, and the police stationed on the roof of the Complex started hurling stones into the crowd.

Imran Khan wrote that he realized that something was “amiss” and that “it was not my arrest that was being planned but my assassination.”

He added that the unknown people were allowed inside the complex, which he believed was done to allow them to assassinate him. However, he claimed that he was saved from the plot by Allah.

Imran Khan called on the CJP to order an investigation into these continuing threats to his life and the assault on his residence in Lahore.
