Pakistan’s former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) leader, Nawaz Sharif, has made a long-awaited return to his homeland after an absence of four years.
The flight from Dubai crossed into Pakistani airspace at approximately 2:30 pm and touched down at Islamabad Airport at 1:50 pm. Former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed that Nawaz Sharif would travel directly from Islamabad to Pakistan, not Jati Umra.
Upon landing in Islamabad, Nawaz Sharif underwent biometric verification by airport authorities. His legal team met him in the airport’s guest lounge, discussing various legal matters. Nawaz Sharif signed petitions for the reinstatement of appeals in Avenfield and Al-Azizia references, and his legal team prepared the necessary documents for the appeal reinstatement.
Subsequently, Nawaz Sharif is expected to travel to Minar-e-Pakistan by helicopter.
In Lahore, PML-N leadership, including Shehbaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, and Hamza Shehbaz, actively prepared for Nawaz Sharif’s arrival. They visited Minar-e-Pakistan to oversee the arrangements.
Party workers from Balochistan, Sindh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Punjab are converging on Lahore in anticipation of the rally.
A massive 80-foot wide and 40-foot high stage has been erected at Greater Iqbal Park near Minar-e-Pakistan. A bulletproof cabin has been installed on the stage for Nawaz Sharif’s security. Organizers have placed 40,000 chairs at the venue, with the number expected to increase as the rally commences.
